Motorola began life in 1928 as the Galvin Manufacturing Corporation. In 1930 they produced the first Motorola branded car radio and soon thereafter began making radios for public safety officers. Years of experience in engineering portable two-way radio systems led to the world's first commercial portable cellular phone - first used in 1973 and available to the public in 1983. Motorola's DynaTAC 8000X phone changed the way the world communicates today.
